D-Tech Custom Magic Band Designs

By admin

Guests now have a new option to create and personalize retail Magic Bands at Walt Disney World Resort. Walt Disney World recently opened a new retail Magic Band on Demand station inside the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. location near Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom Park. This new option for guests is similar to the D-Tech on Demand boutique first introduced in June 2014 at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs Marketplace.

At the Tomorrowland location, you may choose to create either a retail MagicBand or a D-Tech phone case. If creating a retail MagicBand, we offer your choice of eight different Magic Band colors including purple. There are also approximately 40 graphics to apply to your custom Magic Band. There will be a few Magic Band graphics that will only be found in this location that salute classic Magic Kingdom Park attractions and icons. In addition to artwork, the retail MagicBand can be personalized with a name printed on the outside.

Once designed, the retail MagicBand is printed in the location. The printers use UV ink which dries immediately and requires no cooling time.

For the final step, the custom retail MagicBand can be either associated to your My Disney Experience account, or you can give it as a gift to friends or family who may be visiting Walt Disney World Resort soon.

Retail for a custom retail MagicBand is $21.95 while a personalized retail MagicBand is $29.95.

Sea World Rescues Turtles

By admin

sea world

Twenty-four of the world’s most endangered sea turtles were flown from Massachusetts to Florida yesterday for life-saving rehabilitation by SeaWorld experts. The critically debilitated, cold-stunned turtles are part of the overwhelming amount of stranded and endangered sea turtles impacted by the region’s oncoming winter weather, and were flown to Orlando courtesy of the United States Coast Guard.

The 24 juvenile sea turtles flown in on Thursday were originally rescued by the New England Aquarium and volunteers of the Massachusetts Audubon Sanctuary at Wellfleet Bay on Cape Cod.  The sea turtles were re-warmed and stabilized by the New England Aquarium at their marine animal hospital in Quincy, Mass. until they were ready for transport.

Sea turtle experts at SeaWorld spent much of the night conducting full health examinations on each turtle to determine health status. The goal is to provide a stable environment for the sea turtles to regain their strength, and ultimately be returned as soon as possible.

HISTORY REPEATING:

This week’s rescue is a repeat of history, as last winter (November 2014) SeaWorld Orlando helped care for 72 cold-stunned Kemp’s ridley sea turtles rescued in New England under similar circumstances.  All of these turtles were cared for by SeaWorld and successfully returned to warmer ocean waters once they were rehabilitated.

On Saturday, January 16, the nationally broadcast Sea Rescue™ will air its 100th original episode featuring the record-breaking turtle cold stunning event in New England from November 2014 to January 2015 that involved hundreds of turtles being flown south for rehabilitation.    This special episode showcases the partnership between SeaWorld and other organizations coming together to save these endangered turtles.

Shell Shocked, the story of the New England cold stun turtles, airs Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17on ABC affiliates.  Check your local listings.

For more than 50 years, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment has helped animals in need – ill, injured, orphaned or abandoned, with the goal of returning them to the wild. More than 27,000 animals have been rescued by the expert animal rescue team that is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  If you see an injured marine animal, you can help by calling the FWC hotline at (888) 404-3922 or by dialing *FWC on a cellular device.

Time Saving Tips for Walt Disney World – Top 5

By admin

Who doesn’t want to save time when visiting Mickey and Minnie? Here are a few tips I have put together to help you save time and make your visit to Walt Disney World magical.

 Walt Disney World

Tip #1 – Get To Know Your Resort
When you arrive, I always suggest my guests take that first day to get to know their resort. Find out where the buses pick up and drop off, and how far it is from your room. Find out the hours the buses run. Find out when Breakfast is served so you can grab a bite to eat and then catch the bus. Make sure you get on the right bus, look at the marque at the top of the bus. Most of this information is available when you check in, so be sure to ask your resort Cast Member.

Tip #2 – Make FASTPASS Reservations
Make sure you download the Disney App for your Smartphone. Making FastPass reservations will get you to your ride quicker and if there are any changes, the app will let you know. (Sometimes when it rains all day, they will open the FastPass for any time) Also, reserving your ride time to the morning hours, will help with lines as well.

Tip #3 – Get To the Parks Early
Don’t wait for the parks to open to go. Get up early, get some breakfast then head out to the parks on the first bus available, even if you have to wait for the park to open, you will still get to the rides before most of the public. Many of the Characters are in the parks early, so photo ops will be easy. Park maps can also be found in the lobby of your resort so you can do some planning that first day and be ready to hit the parks on day 2.

Walt Disney World

Tip #4 – Make Advance Dining Reservations
If you are going to eat at any of the sit-down restaurants, you will NEED to make Reservations. Wait lines can be up to hours, and that’s before you even get to the person who actually makes the reservation.

Tip #5 – Bring a “Survival Kit”

Put together a small Survival Kit such as Band-Aids, lotion, Ibuprofen, sunscreen, ponchos (yes it rains at Disney!), hand wipes, etc. The lines at the gift shops can get really long.

ESPN Wide World Of Sports – Travel Spotlight

By admin

espy wide world of sports

When you think of going to Disney on a Family vacation, one of the places you typically don’t think about (unless you are coming for a competition) is ESPN Wide World of Sports. Typically known for high school and college sports competitions, ESPN Wide World of Sports is overlooked by many families vacationing at Disney. So, why would you want to spend any time there with all the theme parks have to offer?

RunDisney Races

I know what you are thinking: “But I am not a runner!” Most people don’t know that with each Disney race comes a kids race. Kids races go from 6 months up to 12 years old and at a fraction of the cost ($15 per child for the dashes) of the runDisney races, they are a wonderful experience for your child. Most children dress up as characters and princesses to run. Your child gets to come to the expo to pick up their packet with all of the adult runners. They are given a bib and a T-shirt with the year and race on it. The race distances vary by ages from the 100m dash to the 400m dash. For the more advanced runners, they have a 1-mile fun run. For the babies who can’t even walk, they have the Diaper Dash, where they lay out mats and let the kids crawl to the finish line. As each child crosses the finish line, they receive a high-five from a Disney character and a medal. If you are planning to be at Disney during one of the race weekends, plan on signing your child up for one of these races. The downfall is that the races begin booking 180 days in advance and often sell out quickly. So, make sure you sign up on the RunDisney website to receive reminder emails.

Atlanta Braves Spring Training

Next time you vacation at Disney, carves out some time for your child to participate in a race or attend a baseball game. While not your typical Disney experience, ESPN Wide World of Sports can offer your family memories and experiences that they will never forget.
